Finally! Moving forward with #ISBF7
When I say this next sentence, I truly mean it…..
I have had the most profound doubts about hosting another ISBF.
I know, with absolute certainty, that my friends will wink. And nod knowingly at that statement. But having not having ridden that particular bike in nearly 3 years, I can only imaging that it feels like an amateur, on a crappy second hand bike, at the foot of Mont Ventoux, looking up into the clouds.
It's ******* terrifying.
I'm trying to think of the actual “tipping point” moment when I thought the 7 was doable. HAD to go ahead. That moment came - I think - about 2 months ago. When I got a phone call from a friend. Saying he was going to brew his last. And should the official “final” Beer be for #ISBF7.
That is some kind of nudge.
So I pitched up. With ISBF Brothers Chris & Judith (pet name), Stuart (the mighty North Riding Brewery) at The Shed of Wonder. Five Towns Brewery. And brewed a BIG Chocolate Stout. (Rather Experimentally) Fermented with Kveik (pronounced like Cake - thank you Caroline!) yeast.
Black as the tar pits of hell. Smelling like the booziest block of Green & Black's. Coming out at about 9.5% abv, the only place you'll get this - West of the Pennines - will be at Hemsley House. In November. (fuller post to come)
We're also brewing something big and dark in 2 days time. With one of the biggest supporters of ISBF. Meaning that - by next week - we will have 3 beers brewed for November.
None of which will be below 9%.
